AMS 5872 is a specification of Nickel Nimonic 263 nickel-chromium-cobalt-molybdenum alloy. Available as plate, sheet or strip, the AMS 5872 specification offers excellent ductility and excellent fabrication characteristics. For sheets, the annealing process lasts 15 minutes at a temperature range of 1922-2012°F (1050-1100°C), followed by rapid cooling. Besides, fluidized bed quenching can be used for sheets.
This specification can be fabricated using hot working in the temperature range of 1742-2102°F (950-1150°C), or cold working for 0.5-1.2 mm thick strips using annealing technique of 3 minutes at 1190°C by fluidized bed quenching.
Nimonic 263 nickel alloy is a nickel-chromium-cobalt-molybdenum alloy specially meant for use in high temperature and high strength applications. Alloy 263 can be precipitation-hardened. Due to its properties, this alloy is mostly used in high temperature and high strength applications, such as the hot section of gas turbines, both in aircraft and land-based applications.
